R. SURESH

INVESTIGADOR POSTDOCTORAL

Dr. R. Suresh was working as a FONDECYT post-doctoral fellow (2016-2018) with Dr. Jorge Yáñez, Full Professor, the Department of Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, University of Concepcion. He was born and brought up in Chennai, India. In 2006, he received Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Presidency College and subsequenly he received (2008) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Inorganic Chemistry and (2014) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Madras, Chennai, India. His has research interest in the field of synthesis of nanomaterials for diverse applications, especially as sensors for environmental pollutants and photocatalyst for degradation of pollutants.  

Dr. R. Suresh was born and brought-up in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. In 2006, he has received Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Presidency College (Autonomous), Chennai. Subsequenly, he received (2008) Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Inorganic Chemistry and (2014) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Madras, Guindy Campus, Chennai. During his Ph.D. programme, he received Senior Research Fellowship (2012) from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India.  

He was working as a FONDECYT post-doctoral fellow (2016-2018) under the project, ‘Synthesis of Fe2O3-MO (M = Cu, Ni, Zn) nanocomposites and application as sensor for environmental emerging organometallic pollutants’ with Dr. Jorge Yáñez, Full Professor, the Department of Analytical and Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Chemical Sciences, University of Concepcion. He has research interest in the field of synthesis of nanomaterials for diverse applications, especially as electrochemical and spectroscopic sensors for environmental pollutants and photocatalyst for degradation of pollutants.  

As a credit of his research work (upto April 2020), he has 57 research articles in various reputed SCI indexed international journals with 1100 citations and an H-index of 19 (Google scholar). He also has 39 international conference proceeding articles and five book chapers. He has authored more than 110 research papers in various national and international conferences. He has edited a book entitled on ‘Selected Topics in Chemistry’ (ISBN: 978-1-329-12875-0) and co-authored in a book, Engineering Chemistry (ISBN-13: 978-93-86668-19-6; ISBN-10: 93-86668-19-X).

He is a life member in Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT), Mumbai, India. Currently, he is working as an Assitant Professor in a private Engineering College, Chennai. He is also involved in popularization of sicence in Tamil through writing science articles, stories, and poem (more than 100 articles) in various (online/print) Tamil Science Magazines.
