Dr. Jorge Yáñez Solorza

PROFESSOR

Dr. Jorge Yáñez, Profesor Titular del Departamento de Química Analítica e Inorgánica, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, Universidad de Concepción. Bioquímico de la Universidad de Concepción (1991), doctorado en Química en el Instituto de Espectroscopía y Espectroquímica Aplicada, ISAS (Dortmund, Alemania) obteniendo su grado Dr. rer. nat. en la Universidad de Kassel (1997). Postdoctorado en la Universidad de Massachusetts, Amherst, EE. UU. (2000) en el grupo del Prof. Ramon M. Barnes. Capacitación especial en la Organización para Prohibición de Armas Químicas (OPCW), La Haya, Países Bajos (2007). Sus campos de investigación son espectroscopía láser (LIBS), espectroscopía vibracional (PAS, FTIR) y procesos avanzados de oxidación basados en  energía solar.

El Dr. Jorge Yanez Solorza es Profesor Titular en el Departamento de Química Analítica e Inorgánica, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, Universidad de Concepción. Su principal campo de investigación es la espectroscopía aplicada, desarrollando métodos analíticos basados ​​en espectroscopía láser (LIBS) y espectroscopía vibracional (PAS, ATR, FTIR) aplicados al campo de la química ambiental, la industria minera del cobre y análisis forense. Su segundo campo de investigación el desarrollo de precesos avanzados de oxidación basados en la energía fotoquímica solar aplicada en la producción de cobre y tratamiento de aguas.

El Dr. Yáñez es bioquímico de la Universidad de Concepción (1991), realizó su doctorado. en Química en el Instituto de Espectroscopía y Espectroquímica Aplicada (ISAS) en Dortmund con la supervisión del Prof. Harald Berndt, Alemania (1993-1997) obteniendo su Dr. rer. nat. grado en la Universidad de Kassel (1997). Fue becario Fulbright postdoctoral en la Universidad de Massachusetts, Amherst, EE. UU. (2000) e investigador en el Instituto de Investigación Universitaria de Química Analítica en Amherst, Massachusetts (2004), ambos en el grupo del Prof. Ramon M. Barnes. Realizó una capacitación especial en la Organización para la Prohibición de las Armas Químicas (OPCW) en La Haya, Países Bajos (2007).

En el campo de I + D, desde el 2004 ha liderado proyectos de investigación FONDECYT (Fondo de Ciencia y Tecnología), proyectos Fondef (Fondo de Fomento al desarrollo científico y tecnológico), Fondecyt de Postdoctorado, proyectos CORFO-INNOVA, Proyectos de investigación asociativa Anillo-Conicyt, proyecto internacional Fulbright Inniciative Award, EE. UU. Investigador asociado del proyecto Basal CONICYT Centro de Óptica y Fotónica, y del proyecto CONICYT/FONDAP Centro de Investigación de Energía Solar, SERC-Chile. En el campo de la consultoría tecnológica, ha liderado y participado en numerosos proyectos de desarrollo en el sector productivo, principalmente en la industria minera del cobre y las instituciones públicas. Hasta 2019 tiene 68 publicaciones indexadas (ISI), 5 capítulos de libros con 1600 citas y un índice H de 23 (google scholar). Ha dirigido más de 50 tesis de pregrado, 4 de maestría y 6 de doctorado, y 5 investigadores de posdoctorado. Es miembro del claustro en 3 programas de doctorado en la Universidad de Concepción: Doctorado en Ciencias con mención en Química, el Doctorado en Ciencias y Tecnología Analítica y Doctorado en Ciencias Geológicas.

Director del Departamento de Química Analítica e Inorgánica de 2011 a 2013, Jefe de la carrera de Analista Químico de 1998 a 1999, Director de Servicios Analíticos y Soporte Tecnológico en la Facultad de Química (1999-2003). Entre sus premios, el Dr. Yáñez es miembro del Grupo de estudio de Química 2 de Fondecyt, ha sido becario del Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD) y la Comisión Fulbright (EE.UU.). Ha sido honrado con el reconocimiento de Excelencia Docente durante 4 períodos consecutivos (2002-2010). Ha sido honrado con el reconocimiento de Excelencia Académica de la Universidad de Concepción durante 9 años consecutivos (2011-2019). Es miembro del comité científico internacional del Simposio de Río sobre Espectrometría Atómica, el VII Congreso Iberoamericano de Física y Química Ambiental y la XII Reunión de Química Analítica y Ambiental. Ha sido orador invitado en numerosas conferencias internacionales en Argentina, Alemania, Brasil, México, Colombia y Estados Unidos. Actualmente es Delegado Regional de la Comisión Fulbright de Chile para el Intercambio Cultural entre Chile y los Estados Unidos. Es vicepresidente de la División de Química Analítica y Ambiental, Sociedad Química de Chile (2018-2020).
